Joining a Local Gym and Your Gym Membership!

Local health club membership success starts with understanding your local gym and everything in it. Also the benefits to the health club you joined and how to get the most out of your gym membership.  Know this…we are dedicated to helping you truly reach your physical goals, once and for all.

Because remember…You Started For a Reason!

This is an “interactive site”, so feel free to drop a comment and build this community so everyone can benefit from your advice and testimonials.

Orison Swett Marden said, “The beginning of a habit is like an invisible thread, but every time we repeat the act we strengthen the strand…add to it another filament, until it becomes a great cable that binds us irrevocably, thought and act.

Have you ever said, “This year, I’m gonna get in shape”…“This year, I’m gonna lose 20lbs and keep it off”…?

Easier said than done, right?  Fact is, most people quit before they ever get started.  And for those that actually do “start”, over 75% quit in the first three months! This happens for a number of odd reasons, but the main one is (and always will be) the same for “those that quit”… lack of defined reasons for starting in the first place.  And also, somewhere along the path of growing up people forget how much fun it can be.

Ok…ok, enough about them.  I’m here to say, YOU are different.  I can state that as a fact because you’re here now and reading this website.  You’re taking action, period.  No matter how small this action may seem, it is still positive action.  Thus, you’re moving towards attaining the correct mindset of reaching your physical target goal.

Now let’s talk about what happens when you join a gym.  If you haven’t already visited a gym or tried one out, then realize that when you do check out the health club of your choice there will be a sales person involved.  Just relax and make sure you have a good idea of exactly what it is you’re joining the gym for.  By this, I mean what are your underlying reasons or “driving wants” for example…losing the body-fat?  In the gym success manual, there is help in uncovering the “driving wants” that get us moving and get us taking positive action and also how to keep moving until the target is reached.

My Gym Success

Now, let’s say you got a really good idea why you joined the gym and you’re ready to visit one.  Normally you should have been greeted by one of the staff, since you’re new.  They may want to evaluate your health and level of fitness in a sit-down interview.  If you haven’t been given a tour of the place and want one, usually the health club’s manager or person on duty will be more than happy to offer you a tour.  If you don’t want a tour, you don’t “have to” have one and usually isn’t an issue that is forced.

If they have the service, they may want to talk about Personal Training.  Usually there is a fee, but you should ask if they have any Personal Training  included in a new membership.  Nine time outta ten, they will.  A great way to try it out first BEFORE you spend any extra money.  They will help you identify your personal training needs, go into diet and help you understand protein, carbs, fats as they relate to you on a personal level, etc.

But most of the time after a tour has been given, they’ll want to take 5 minutes of your time to “talk” about your reasons for wanting to join and make no mistake about it, they’ll want to sell you a membership.  And that’s ok.  If you’re ready and willing to move forward, and the deal looks good…do it.  If you want to “kick the tires” a bit and try the club out for a week or so, do that.  But do something…because you already uncovered your own personal reasons why you “need” to join a health club, right?

Don’t feel pressured to purchase a gym membership either.  Personally, the smart thing to do would be that if you’re just not sure if you’re gonna “stick with it”, get a month-to-month gym membership that you can cancel anytime.  Almost all gyms have them now, especially with the economy where it is at the moment.  And after you have read “You Started For a Reason!” and made great progress towards your personal fitness goals…later on down the road, you can always take advantage of a better gym membership “deal”.

Chances are, and I’ve seen many of my friends get this; you’ll get an awesome “month-to-month” gym membership that can’t be beat.  My hope for you is that you get THAT deal!

So when you’re moving forward with your gym membership, make sure you pick up a copy of the book. You can check it out in the tab above and start making the most out of this years resolution!
